We are delighted to welcome Professor Monder Ram OBE, DL as a keynote speaker at our BCE conference.

Professor Ram is an internationally recognised scholar in the field of ethnic minority entrepreneurship. As Director of the Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME) at Aston University, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the academic and policy discourse on minority enterprise for over three decades.

A recipient of the ESRC Impact Prize for Business in 2017 and 2021, Professor Ram is known for his commitment to engaged scholarship, which has directly contributed to transforming the lives of disadvantaged and underrepresented communities across the UK. His work is distinguished by its real-world relevance, interdisciplinary reach, and policy impact.

Professor Ram has secured major research funding from leading organisations including the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), and the Low Pay Commission. He also serves as an advisor to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Ethnic Minority Business Owners, and has been a member of successive government advisory groups on ethnic minority business since 2000.

His keynote will draw on decades of research and policy engagement, offering critical insights into the layers of belongingness, connectedness and embededdness and the future of ethnic minority enterprise in a changing social and political landscape.
